Hero

Navy SUNY Upstate hoodies piled together, some showing the embroidered chest wordmark and some the illustrated back print

What we made

A signature hoodie for SUNY Upstate Medical University’s Norton College of Medicine, in navy fleece and decorated front and back.

The front is quiet: the university’s wordmark, with Norton College of Medicine beneath it, embroidered small on the left chest in white thread. The back is where the story is told, in a full screen print of hand-drawn line work.

The back

The back print is a map of the place, drawn by hand. SUNY Upstate Medical University is set in collegiate block letters beside an outline of New York State, and under it are the buildings: Upstate University Hospital, Weiskotten Hall between its trees, Upstate Cancer Center and Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, with an Irving Ave street sign and a lamp post between them.

Around the buildings sits the anatomy — a heart, a ribcage, lungs, kidneys, a brain — and the tools: a stethoscope, a reflex hammer, the rod of Asclepius. The university seal, an est. 1834 stamp and NCOM in outlined varsity letters finish it.

All of it is one white ink on navy, so twenty-odd drawings read as a single print.
